USGS has mentioned magnitude 4.9 earthquake at a shallow depth of 6.0 miles. About 7,640,000 people are living within 100 km radius.

USGS has not mentioned this earthquake till now. We are trying to reach local seismological agencies. However tremor was well felt in Algiers. Earthquake in Algeria in May 2013 injured several people.

M 4.5 moderate earthquake shakes Algiers, Algeria today, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported.

According to the EMSC, the quake's epicenter was located 2 km S of Bouinan and 27 km S of Algiers.

Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria.

The 2003 Boumerdès earthquake (also northern Algeria earthquake) claimed lives of about 2,266 people. Northern Algeria is situated at the boundary between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate.
