Earthquake hits Nepal after SAARC executive heads arrive capital!

M 4.5 moderate earthquake shakes Nepal today, National Seismological Center reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 39 km ESE of Lamjung and 73 km NW of Kathmandu. It was 11.3 miles deep.

The earthquake occurred in North East of Gorkha (near Dhading boarder) at 9:34pm local time, a day before the 18th SAARC Summit. Heads of state or government from seven SAARC member states including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka have already arrived Kathmandu.

Earthquake was well felt in Gorkha, Dhading, Tanahun, Nuwakot and most parts of Gandaki region.

Following Nepal based Annapurna Post, today's earthquake occurred the same day Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived Kathmandu. The co-incidence is that earlier too, the earthquake was felt during his visit in August 2014.

According to the United Nation Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (IMU / UN OCHA), 11 out of 75 districts of Nepal lies in the most affected districts based on estimated risk induced by earthquake hazard.
