New American Red Cross emergency preparedness app launched for Children

A new American Red Cross emergency preparedness app has been launched for Children. The recent emergency preparedness app is expected to help children between the ages of 7 and 11 to learn emergency preparedness while playing a game as monster characters.

“Monster Guard: Prepare for Emergencies” is a free game to teach children how to prevent emergencies such as home fires and how help them to stay safe if severe weather or natural disasters occur, American Red Cross mentioned in its press release on November 6, 2014.

According to the Russ Paulsen, executive director of Community Preparedness and Resilience, “the Monster Guard App game is emergency preparedness disguised as fun."

In this emergency preparedness app, children direct the monsters to identify fire hazards, locate a safe room in a house and then select items needed for their emergency supplies kit. In this way, they learn how to prepare for emergencies.

In October, Facebook introduced a feature called ‘Safety Check‘ to help its users notify friends and family that they're safe during or after natural disasters.
