Peru's Ubinas volcano triggers mudslides, blocks access to town

Ubinas volcano has spewed gases and ashes some 2,500 metres into the air triggering off a series of mudslides, Ukraine Today reported quoting Peru's Geological Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

According to Euro News, the resultant mudslides down the volcano’s slopes have blocked off access to the town of Ubinas.

Local communities are advised to be on alert for further explosions but no evacuation order has been issued.

A week earlier, Ubinas volcano in Peru spewed ashes over nearby villages. Ash fall was reported on Escacha and Ubinas Valley.

Ubinas volcano is located in the Andes of southern Peru.
