Canada's first tornado of the year hits southern Ontario

Canada's first tornado of the year has been reported in southern Ontario on Saturday, May 30 around 2:30 p.m. local time.

According to The Weather Network, Environment Canada has confirmed that an EF-1 touched down in southern Ontario just northeast of the city of London, Ontario.

The destructive winds gusting up to 175 km/hr brought severe weather condition over the London area.

Trees and buildings sustained damage from Bryanston to St. Mary's.

Environment Canada had issued multiple thunderstorm watches and warnings throughout the day on Saturday across parts of southern Ontario.
