Tornado in Sabah, Malaysia damages buildings

Tornado in Kinabatangan district of Sabah, Malaysia has flattened two buildings and blew off the roofs of three other structures at an oil palm plantation.

Strong winds appearing like “small tornadoes” hit Sabah at 2.20 pm, The Star Online quoted Sahak Rahmat, Kinabatangan police chief as saying.

Hundreds of oil palm plantation workers are involved in cleaning up the debris. No causalities were reported.

Meanwhile, The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has denied issuing warning that a tsunami and thunderstorms would hit Sabah, Terengganu and Pahang today. The rumors have been continuously circulating on the social media after magnitude 5.9 earthquake rattled Sabah, Malaysia on June 5, 2015 at 07:15 am local time.
