Cyclone Roanu kills 24 in Bangladesh — Worst in Chittagong


Tropical cyclone Roanu has claimed lives of 24 people in Bangladesh, country national news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported.

The worst situation has been observed in and around northwestern port city of Chittagong where 11 people including minor children have been killed.

Three people each died in the southwestern Bhola and northwestern Noakhali and Cox's Bazar coastal districts, the disaster management department official said.

The main port of Chittagong has issued a "red alert" ordering ships to immediately leave the port.
