Taurid Meteor Shower to peak on November 11-12, 2016

November 11, 2016: The Taurid meteor shower will peak on November 11-12, 2016.

According to in-the-sky.org, the Taurid meteor shower will reach its maximum rate of activity on 12 November 2016. 

The visibility of a meteor shower depends on several factors like geographic coordinates of observer and elevation, time of the day, city lights pollution, the weather and the terrain.

Some shooting stars associated with the shower are expected to be visible each night from 20th October to 30th November. The twin Taurids meteor showers — the South Taurids and the North Taurids will continue through December 2, 2016.

Similarly, on November 16, Leonid Meteor Shower, second meteor shower of the month could give observers a chance to see up to 15 shooting stars each hour.

Are meteor showers dangerous?

No, meteor showers are not dangerous at all. Most of these are debris entering the earth's atmosphere which are burned up showing the beautiful lightning spark.

Meteor shower in Nepal?

Several people from Nepal reported meteor shower on November 10, 2016 at around 10:00 pm. Another day, contrails were reported (as shown in picture). However, the official information of meteor shower hasn't been shared by the related authorities.
