Recent Natural Disasters
  • Tornado in Bacolod city, Philippines
    -Following Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), around 12:45 p.m. (local time) today, a tornado hit Ipil-ipil St, Bacolod city
    -Bacolod city shopping center damaged along with slight damage reported to Bacolod Chambers building
    -Bacolod Chamber Rescue team working on the area
    -No casualty reported
  • Flooding in Caldwell, Texas
    -Heavy rainfall caused flash flood in Caldwell
    -High water was reported in Bank streets along with railroad underpass
    -Water entered into some motels and houses
    -No damage or injury reported

  • M 4.3 moderate earthquake in Atacama, Chile (@ 91 km depth) with epicenter located 155 km WNW of Antofagasta de la Sierra (Argentina). Just a weak shaking will have felt around epicenter.

  • M 4.0 moderate shallow earthquake in Western Turkey (@ 16 km depth) with epicenter located 4 km NW Hocalar. The populated area Usak is 63 km far from epicenter where weak shaking will have felt.

  • M 3.2 weak very shallow earthquake in Southern Italy (@ 6 km depth) with epicenter located 14 km NW San nicandro garganico. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Foggia.

  • M 4.5 moderate deep earthquake in Myanmar (@ 111 km depth) with epicenter located 43 km NW Pakokku. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the  people of Monywa and Pakokku.

  • Canary Island (Spain)/El Hierro recent volcanic activity
    -Though some minor earthquake continues beneath El Hierro, authorities have decided to declare the end of eruption
    -Web cameras at La Restinga are going to shut down

Flooding List

  • Flooding in Bicol, Philippines
    -3 killed with two other missing in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes
    -At least 500 people affected by flooding in Oriental Mindoro
    -Flash flood hit the parts of Calapan City and the towns of Naujan, Mansalay, and Baco
    -In December 11, 2005, Calapan City was hit by tropical depression Quedan and heavy moonson rains which result in massive flooding
    -Flooding is among the most common natural disasters in Philippines

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Tropical depression Pakhar/02w, located approximately 340 nm east of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, has tracked north-northwestward at 04 knots over the past six hours.
    Torrential rainfall and high winds expected in south-central coast of Vietnam by Saturday.
