Recent Natural Disasters
  • Flooding in Wales, UK
    -More than 40 people rescued from homes and caravans after flooding in west Wales.
    -Rescued people are taking shelter in Llandre  and in a community center in Talybont.
    -Worst hit is caravan parks and villages near Aberystwyth.
    -Royal Air Force Sea King helicopters, inshore life boats and fire service rescue boats are working on the site.
    -Met Office issues weather warnings for Wales, south-west England, the Midlands, London and the South East.

    -Below is a video of flood water flowing between the White Lion Hotel and the Black Lion Hotel in the village of Talybont.
    -At least 150 people rescued after flooding near Aberystwyth in western Wales.

  • M 6.0 strong earthquake in Taiwan (@ 71 km depth) with epicenter located 50 km E from Su-ao. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of I-lan, Chi-lung, Hualian, Ta-hsi-chen, Hsin-chu-shih and Pu-li. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of T'ai-chung-shih, Taipei, Taitung City, Tainan City and Kao-hsiung.

    -Minor damage reported. Just crack in walls.
    -Tremors were felt even in Fujian region of China. 
  • M 3.9 light shallow earthquake strikes Orissa, India (@ 5 km depth). Tremors will have well felt in Balangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi districts of Orissa.

    -Strong jolt was felt in in Junagarh, Golamunda and Atigaon.
    -Minor damage to the houses in Bhawanipatna.
  • M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Nepal (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter located 14 km NE of Pokhara. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Pokhara, Gorkha, Nawalparasi, Chitwan and Kathmandu. Click for detail report on this Pokhara quake.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Taiwan (@ 18 km depth) with epicenter located 37 km NE of Kaohsiung. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Shanhwa, Tainan, Yungkang, Chiayi and Taitung.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Northern Italy (@ 15 km depth) with epicenter located 82 km NNE of Venice. Moderate shaking of MMI V reported to be felt by the people of Budoia, San Quirino, Pordenone, Maniago and Cordenons. People of Aviano, Belluno, Fontanafredda, Gardone Val Trompia, Montereale Valcellina, Porcia, Sacile, Treviso, Venice and Verona will have felt light to weak shaking.   • Flooding in Escambia, Florida
    -Heavy flooding reported in parts of Escambia County (Pensacola).
    -Escambia County Emergency Management has requested residents to stay home and not drive unless necessary.
    -The rip current risk remains high along the Albama and Florida Panhandle beaches through this evening.
    -Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle and the county seat of Escambia County, Florida, United States of America.
    About 4,000 residents in the Pensacola area without power due to heavy storms.
  • Flooding in Houston, Texas
    -Flood advisory issued in parts of Harris, Fort Bend, Wharton, Brazoria, Colorado and Austin counties.

  • Tropical cyclone Invest 93
    -Invest 93 is situated several hundred miles south-southwest of Acapulco, Mexico.
    -93E is predicted to move west-northwestward at 10 - 15 mph over the next several days.

Natural Disaster News
  • Landslide in Jammu and Kashmir, India
    -Around 400 passengers rescued from the Khardung La Pass in Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.
    -Rescue operation were launched by the Army at Khardung La Pass (world's highest motorable road) after they stuck in heavy snowfall and landslides.
  • Tornado in Wyoming, USA
    -About 20 building structure damaged in near Wheatland Wyoming.
    -Five houses reported to be totally damaged. One of the damaged house was immediately evacuated.
  • Hail and rainstorms in Beijing, China
    -Heavy hail and rainstorms reported in Beijing today.
    -Rainwater also slowed road traffic.
    -Weather forecasting department issued hail and wind warnings at 3:30 p.m
