  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 49 km SSE of Palu. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Poso, Rantepao and Mamuju.

  • M 5.7 strong earthquake in Kermadec Islands (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter located 245 km NNE of Raoul Island (New Zealand). Just a weak shaking will have felt in coastal area.

  • M 4.4 light earthquake in Nepal-India Border Region (@ 14 km depth) with epicenter located 7 km W of Bhinga (India). It will have well felt by the people of Ikauna, Bahraich, Nanpara, Nepalganj, Bhairahawa and Lucknow.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (River Murray), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins), Burkina Faso, Cameroon (River Benue), Chad, China (River Mekong, River Huang He and River Brahmaputra), Democratic Republic of the Congo (River Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria (River Benue), Peru (River Ucayali, River Putamayo), Sudan (River Blue Nile), Uruguay, Venezuela (River Orinoco) and Zimbabwe (River Zambezi). 

  • Flash floods in South Darfur, Sudan
    -Five killed in floods in Gereida, South Darfur region.
    -Heavy rains and floods also caused massive destruction in Zamzam IDP Camp.

  • Typhoon Bolaven
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Typhoon Bolaven was located 445 nm southeast of Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan.
  • Tropical Storm Isaac
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Isaac was located 235 km SSE of Santo Domingo Dominican Republic.
    -A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Haiti. The government of Cuba has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Cuban provinces of Camaguey, Las Tunas, Granma, Holguin Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo.
  • Tropical Depression Joyce
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TD Joyce was located 1930 km E of the Leeward Islands.
    -The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph.
