  • M 6.9 very strong earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan Region (@ 103 km depth) with epicenter located 15 km SW of Obihiro. Very strong shaking of MMI VII will have felt by the people of Obihiro. People of Otofuke, Kushiro, Shizunai and Fukagawa will have felt strong shaking of MMI VI. Moderateshaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Bibai and Tomakomai. Similarly light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Sapporo, Aomori, Hakodatea and Asahikawa.

    Hokkaido earthquake injured at least six people. Three in Kushiro area and each in Obihiro, Kitami and Anping town.
  • M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake in Austria (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 4 km SE of Sittersdorf. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Graz, Voelkermarkt, Kamnik, Lukovica, Maribor, Murska Sobota, Novo Mesto, Prebold, Ravne, Vuhred (Slovenia), Zagreb, Karlovac and Luka (Croatia).13:35 UTC (local time Saturday, February 02, 2013 at 02:35 PM @ epicenter) 
  • M 2.8 weak shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 14 km depth) with epicenter located just 10 km WSW of Purcell. It will have well felt by the people of Norman, Moore, Chickasha, Blanchard and Oklahoma City.

  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake in Taiwan (@ 23 km depth) with epicenter located 47 km SE of Hualian. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Su'ao, Taipei,Taichung, Buli and Yilan.

Recent Flash Floods
Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.
  • Flooding in Kaziwan Village of China
    -One dead and 19 others have been injured after the Lianfeng Reservoir, located about 25 km from Urumqi leaked.
    -Floods displaced more than 30 people.
    -Yesterday landslide in Yunnan, China damaged 928 houses
    .

Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.
 

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Cyclone Felleng
    -As of 09:00 UTC, TC Felleng was located 370 nm southwest of La Reunion.

    -Tropical Cyclone Felleng caused heavy rainfall in Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius.
    -Cyclone Felleng in Madagascar killed five people some days ago. Floods displaced more than 700 people in Antananarivo.
