Recent Natural Disasters
  • Sea wave in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
    -Giant sea wave on the beach of Pacific resort of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico has killed one. Other person was injured in an attempt of escaping the wave.
    -A 70 year old woman was  rescued by Navy personnel.


Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake in India-Pakistan Border Region (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 24 km E of Jati. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Badin, Chuhar Jamali, Daro Mehar and Tando Ikram.

  • M 5.6 strong shallow earthquake in Taiwan with epicenter located 36 km NW Hualian. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Hualian, Buli, Yilan, Miaoli, Fengyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Banqiao and Taipei.   • M 4.0 light earthquake in Crete, Greece (@ 80 km depth) with epicenter located 42 km S Vríses. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Réthimnon and Iráklion.

Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Angola (Cotundo), Australia, Bolivia, Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (Rio Juruena, Araquaia, Purus, Tocantins), China (Mekong, Xi Jiang, Brahmaputra, Yangtze, Indus), Colombia (Rio Negro), Honduras, Iraq (Shatt al Arab), Kenya, Mozambique (Chire), Pakistan (Indus), Peru (Ucayali, Rio Maraon), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile), United States (Mississippi, Arkansas), Vietnam, Zambia (Zambezi, Likando).

  • Coastal flood warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service for parts of New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. A state of emergency has been declared in Virginia.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Etna, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Barren Island, Raung, Paluweh, Gamalama, Sakurajima, Kakar, Tinakula, Yasur, Tolbachik and Kilauea.
  • Indonesia/Mount Tangkuban Perahu recent volcanic activity
    -Mount Tangkuban Perahu in West Java spewed smoke and ash nearly 500 meters into the air.
    -Volcano is currently placed at the second-highest alert level.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
There are no tropical storm activity for today.
