Recent Natural Disasters
  • Storm in Kolkata, India
    -Storm in Kolkata, India has claimed lives of three people including a three-year-old girl
    .
    -Storms in Kolkata today have disrupted the flight services at NSC Bose International airport. Several local trains from Howrah station have also been cancelled or delayed. Click for detail report on Kolkata storm.
  • Tornado in Ontario, Canada
    -An EF1 tornado touched down near the community of Shelburne, Ontario.
    -Tornado path was 10 kilometres long and was around 75 metres wide.
    -No injuries reported.


Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 5.3 moderate shallow earthquake in Southwestern Ryukyu Islands, Japan (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 62 km NNE of Yonakuni. People of Chatan, Ishigaki, Su'ao and Yilan (Taiwan) will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 4.8 moderate shallow earthquake in Northwestern Iran (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 27 km W of Marand. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Tabriz, Merand, Benāb, Khvoy, Qarah Zia' od Din and Julfa (Azerbaijan).

    At least four people are reported to be injured.

  • Flooding in Chicago
    -
    Flash flood emergency has been declared in Chicago.
    -Four to six inches of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours over most of Northern Illinois.
    -Heavy rain and flooding opened large sinkhole in Chicago.

Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Etna, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Barren Island, Raung, Paluweh, Gamalama, Sakurajima, Kakar, Tinakula, Yasur, Tolbachik and Kilauea.

    -Sinkhole in Chicago has injured one person.
