Recent Natural Disasters
  • Tornado in Ohio
    -A tornado has hit Ursuline College in northeast Ohio about 3:35 a.m. Saturday morning collapsing a wall of the athletic center and other buildings.
    -According to the National Weather Service, EF1 twister with 110 mph winds hit Ursuline College located about 13 miles east of Cleveland.
    -Tornado damage has been worst at Ursuline's O'Brien Athletic Center. Other three buildings were also damaged including the Dauby Science Center and the Ralph M. Besse Library. Click for detail report on Ohio tornado.
  • Tornado in Pompano Beach, Florida
    -A tornado in Pompano Beach of Floida, United States has injured at least three people.
    -One person is admitted to Broward Health North with minor injuries.
  • Heavy storms in southeast Michigan
    -Heavy storms have hit southeast Michigan with winds of 60 m.p.h.
    -Storm damage has been observed in Madison Heights. Around 105,000 people have lsot power.
    -Hailstorm also hit Brownstown Township.

Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 5.8 strong earthquake in New Zealand (@ 13 km depth) with epicenter located 48 km SSW of Brooklyn. People of Blenheim, Lower Hutt, Picton, Upper Hutt, Brooklyn, Porirua, Wellington, Nelson, Richmond, Paraparaumu and Palmerston North will have felt light shaking of MMI IV.

  • M 5.5 moderate earthquake in Japan (@ 22 km depth) with epicenter located 103km ENE of Hasaki. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Omigawa, Hasaki, Asahi, Oarai, Okunoya and Hitachi-Naka. People of Mito-shi, Chiba-shi, Utsunomiya-shi, Fukushima-shi and Funabashi will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 3.5 light shallow earthquake in Switzerland (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 3 km W of Sankt Gallen. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of  Andwil and Bern, Switzerland.

  • Flooding in Chihuahua, Mexico
    -Flooding in Chihuahua, Mexico has claimed life of a person and closed an International Airport.

  • Flooding in Kailali and Dolakha, Nepal
    -Floods and landslides in Kailali and Dolakha districts of Nepal have displaced more than 2,000 families.
    -Almost 90 percent area of Dhangadhi has been waterlogged closing schools, shops and transport services.

  • Landslide in Sarangani, Philippines
    -Landslide caused by heavy rainfall has affected around 60 households and damaged an estimated 100 hectares of farmlands. 
  • According to Namibia government, about 780,000 people, which is approximately one third of Namibia’s entire population, are now classified as food insecure due to drought. Namibia African drought currently is the worst drought in 30 years.
