Tropical Storm Juliette hits Mexico resorts, 1 killed

Tropical Storm Juliette has claimed life of one person at Pacific Mexican tourist resort of Cabo San Lucas early Thursday, Reuters reported.

About 1,650 people are taking shelters, emergency officials said.

According to the civil defense officials, the storm flooded low-lying areas and collapsed at least one house.

Power outages have also been reported in Todos Santos, Pescadero, parts of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo areas.

Tropical storm Fernand had claimed lives of at least 14 people in Mexico some days ago.

Tropical Storm Juliette formed on August 28. As of 2 p.m. PDT (2100 UTC), Tropical Storm Juliette was located about 130 miles (210 km) northwest of Cabo San Lazaro and about 140 miles (230 km) southeast of Punta Eugenia.
