Landslides, flash floods in Meghalaya kill 7

Landslides and flash floods in Meghalaya, India have claimed lives of at least seven people, The Times of India reported.

Heavy rainfall caused flash floods in Garo Hills district of Meghalaya inundating over 100 villages and affecting over one lakh people.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has set up two disaster relief camps in the area.

Several bridges including Soksan bridge that connects Mendipathar to Resubelpara, Ringgi bridge connecting the civil sub-division office in Dadenggre, Oksan bridge connecting Mendipathar to Resubelpara have been washed away.

According to The Indian Express, floods and landslides have claimed lives of at least twelve people in different district of Meghalaya’s Garo Hills in the past 72 hours.
